A recently discovered prehistoric wonder, the 2000-foot long Riverbluff Cave is filled with ancient animal remains and tracks. Fabulous natural cave features, like multi-hued stalactites and stalagmites, are the backdrop to the amazing discoveries that continue to give new information to archaeologists. Nearby, the Field House has fossils collected from the site and places around the world, and visitors can see the laboratory facilities. Accidentally discovered by a construction crew, the cave is located east of Rivercut Golf Course on the southern outskirts of Springfield.
Cave is closed to the public. Field House open Mon. - Fri. 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Sat. by appointment.
